Plot: The New Road is a five-part BBC Scotland historical drama broadcast on BBC-1 in April 1973. Adapted by Clifford Hanley from Neil Munro’s 1914 novel, the series follows the building of General Wade's military roads in the Scottish Highlands in 1733 and the clash between traditional Highland life and modernization
