He was discovered as a stray puppy at just three months old by director Diego Freitas during an extensive search across Brazil for the perfect dog to lead his film, in which Amendoim represents the typical Caramelo dog, a common type of caramel coloured mixed breed dog that has become a cherished national symbol of Brazil
